Latest Update: I Found a New Job!

It has been a while since I posted, but Travis and I have been a little busy.

We went to a wedding in mid August and then to the Santa Cruz/Aptos area with family friends. We have gone to a couple of baseball games both to see the A's and the Rockies! We also just recently went to Apple Hill in the Placerville area. It was a lot of fun! Basically, there are 40 some different apple farms/ranches and it is the start of their season. The farms are mainly open from Labor Day to Christmas. There are tree farms for Christmas and Pumpkin patches for Halloween and we heard it gets extremely busy starting in October. I am glad we went when we did to see what it is like and so if we want to go again we know where to got his time around. We ate a lot of Apple products, but also came back with other fruits and veggies. We also brought back some sweets and I bought a pair of earrings (b/c there are craft stands at some of the farms). I high suggest anyone go if you are in the area!

Now, for the big news: I was just offered a new job at the Stockton Symphony as the Marketing Associate. I am very excited to start on Monday and see what it exactly entails. It is a small work group, but I think it will work out well. I will have a little commute but I just have to look at it like I am commuting for both Travis and I and there are always compromises to be made. But other than that, it is an ideal job for me!

I will keep you posted on how it goes!

A Fun Summer!

Our summer has come and gone so fast, I can't believe it is already August! Travis and I have been busy practically each weekend this summer and then some.

We have taken several trips to the Ranch, been to several baseball games and visited with my family!

My Monroe family came out to visit in the middle of July and stayed for 10 days! It was so much fun! Since Kym and Kevin are living in Fairfield, they all came to visit the both of us. Our trip consisted of: Sacramento, Napa, Santa Rosa, Lake Tahoe, the Ranch, Yosemite, and San Francisco! We were busy but we wouldn't have had it any other way. Kym and I made a Welcome to CA sign at the airport, created an itinerary for our guests and had gift bags for their arrival. It was such a great experience getting to spend 10 days straight with all of them. We took so many pictures, so I decided to make a photo book online with all of the pics so everyone can enjoy it. I worked on that book for a week to complete it and I had it finished last Thursday! It is shipping to my mom and i can't wait to see how it looks all printed!

Travis also had his 24th birthday on July 25. We went to a nice dinner together, but he had a bachelor party the weekend of his birthday, so he was busy with that.

This coming weekend is going to be so much fun! All of our college friends are getting together for the entire weekend. Branigan, one of Travis' groomsman, is coming up from Southern CA and so we are all getting together. He is bringing his girlfriend and we are all excited to meet her. We will be floating down the American River and heading up to the Ranch to spend quality time together. It will be a great time and long awaited.

The following weekend after that we will be attending a wedding for a couple from college. It is in Santa Rosa at a winery. Then, after that wedding, we are heading down to Aptos, CA on Sunday for a little beach house time with Family Friends. We will be there until Monday and I am so excited for that!

Our summer weather has been so wonderful, this entire week is in the 80's! Can you believe that?! I know even last year this time was so incredibly hot, I was miserable. But right now I have the windows open with no AC and am enjoying the breeze. I think I might even go lay out at the pool this week b/c it will be soo nice.

I continue to go to the gym for my Kickboxing Class 3 to 5 times a week. I just love it so much, it makes me feel so good. I also attend the Farmer's Markets as much as I can. I love the Sacramento Market on Saturdays and then I just recently went to a small Market in Folsom on Sunday. What I do love about CA is the Farmer's Markets, beach and Strawberry stands!

I will hopefully update sooner than the last post!

The Month of June!

In a few days, Travis and I will be celebrating our First Year of Marriage together. It has been such an amazing year being married to my soul mate.

I am extremely excited for our night in San Francisco dining out and going to see Wicked! But, both Travis and I need to pack for our two week long excursions before we go. And, Matt and Lara are staying with us Friday night since Lara will be getting back from NYC that night. So, it will be a little bit busy around here, but we enjoy it!

We are both leaving on Sunday with a week being apart from each other. But, Travis will be joining me in Denver for the following weekend and then he will be heading back to Oregon for the following week. We will attend a Rockies game with my family and also go to Lindsey & Jason's wedding!

I have started our scrapbook of our Wedding and it is going well. I have quite a bit more to do, but I am now at a stopping point until I head to CO b/c I ran out of the two sided squares used to stick pictures to the page. I know I can run to any store here to get them, but they are so much cheaper at Hobby Lobby in CO. So, I think I will just wait and get them when I am there. I also need to go shopping with my mom for scrapbooking items for my brother Mark's high school scrapbook that she would like me to start soon. So, needless to say I will have a lot of scrapbooking to do within the next year when he graduates!

I will try to update our blog more often!

It has been way too long!

Wow, I have not blogged in a long time! I do apologize...

Well, here is an update! I am no longer at Target and am currently looking for a new job, something more in my field of study. It just did not work out there and is not somewhere I see myself making a career out of, but at least I can say I tried.

Travis went to Oregon a couple of weeks ago to inspect a bridge. He was gone for 10 days and it was quite lonely here, but Katrina, my little sister, came to visit me and we had a nice time.

Now that I am back looking for a job, I am going to the gym usually 4 times a week for the Turbo Kickboxing class that I love. Travis and I have also started bike riding again and hope to do that more often!

We are heading to the Ranch for Memorial Day weekend and I am eager to relax and read my a book or two. I am also heading to CO on June 7th (yes, our one year anniversary!) because Travis is going back to Oregon for two different projects. He will join me in CO for a weekend to attend a high school friend's wedding and visit with my family. I will be in CO for a little over 2 weeks and am looking forward to seeing friends, family and enjoying CO in the summer time.

Yes, our one year anniversary is very soon. I seriously can't believe it has already been a year that we have been married. WOW! Time has gone by quickly and is making me realize I need to indulge in each minute. On June 6th, Travis and I are celebrating by going to San Francisco to see the musical, Wicked. We are also going to a nice restaurant before the show and then heading back to Folsom so we can get up in the morning and fly to our destined locations.

I believe that is all of our updates for now!

Update!

It has been a while since I last blogged! Sorry... Since I am a working girl now, I am a little busier and often end up too tired to blog at the end of the day.

Anyways, life is good for the Ford's. We are still able to make great homemade dinners. But we are either usually helping each other out for switching off who makes the food depending on the day and my schedule. Since Target is a retail company and is open most hours of the day, I will have a set weekly schedule, but not a typical 8 to 5 job. To be honest, I like the variety and our shifts go by sooo fast! I often feel like I am in and out of there in no time. I only have 6 more days of training and then I report to my home store on MOnday, February 16th. I am officially going to be at the El Dorado Hills store! It is very exciting and am looking forward to being a part of that team!

Travis is still loving his job and I know he will for the rest of his life! He is going to Washington next Sunday for 6 days to inspect some dams. I will miss him greatly but I will be working all that week, so I will be busy. He is also enjoying playing on his HDR basketball team and is looking forward to starting baseball very soon. OH the joys of watching 3-4 hour baseball games every Sunday in the hot weather, lol. Don't get me wrong, everyone knows I love watching baseball and especially my husband, but sometime those double headers get a little long. However, I am excited for Travis because his other true love will always be baseball and I am glad it will be a part of our lives forever!

We went to see Slumdog Millionaire last week and really enjoyed it. We are planning to see Gran Torino this weekend and are looking forward to spending some time together. Last weekend, we went to the Farmer's market, went on a bike ride and then went to my cousin Kym & Kevin's new place in Fairfield. They just moved here from Mississippi (Kevin is a pilot in the air force). It is so great to have them here and we look forward to spending more time with them in the very near future.

Well, that is all for now! I hope you enjoy our update!

Happy Birthday to Jenny!

This weekend Travis and I drove to Sonora to celebrate his mom's birthday. We went to a nice Japanese/Chinese restaurant with Ruth, Esther, Lara, Matt, Kirk and Jenny. It was great spending time with my wonderful in-laws. We gave Jenny an Aspen leaf necklace that we picked out in Colorado. We spent the night at Grandma Ruth's house again and it was great as usual. We really enjoy the comfy bed in her guestroom.

We also went out for breakfast this morning in Jamestown. I had some great French toast and enjoyed everyone again. Travis and I then drove back to Folsom and spent a nice and relaxing day together. We watched a movie and cooked dinner. We are now all rested for the busy work week ahead!

Goodnight to all!

PS - I hope you all like our new blog background! :)

Happy New year!

It has been a little while since I last wrote. This is because Travis and I were vacationing in Colorado with my family. We had a fabulous time spending time with them and seeing some friends. Travis experienced ice fishing with my brother, Brian, while my brother Mark and I relaxed at home those days. We also went skiing at Eldora with the Bailey family one day and Chris Bailey and Travis went skiing at Loveland another day. We visited with the lovely Lahna before she headed back to Montana and I caught up with a few close friends. We went on a nice hike with the Bailey's and was sad to say goodbye until the next trip. We really enjoyed spending several days with my parents and brothers. My parents took us as well as my brothers and their girlfriends out to a nice dinner where we dressed up, or if you are my dad - wore black jeans. But needless to say, everyone had a great time and looked nice.

This year Travis and I were lucky enough to experience five christmas celebrations! It was a great time and we were lucky to get to celebrate with all of our family. Thank you to everyone for making our Christmas so very special!

Now on to my job! I started at Target on Monday, January 5th at 8am. We arrived home in Folsom at midnight the night before and went to work early the next day. I am immensely enjoying the training so far. The first 3 days was Business College in a classroom setting. But tomorrow I have my first day at my training store! I am very excited to be there! I am currently an EIT just like Travis during my training! But, I am an Executive In Training as he is an Engineer in Training. I smiled when I realized that! I will update you more after my first few days at the store!

That is all for now! Happy New Year!

I Received an Offer!

I have great news! I received an offer for an Executive Team Leader position for Target! Yay! I start January 5, 2009! I am very excited and so happy to have found a great opportunity as this is!

So tomorrow, I need to go take a drug test for Target and once I pass that I will be given the offer in writing! Very exciting!

I also have several things to do tomorrow and tonight before heading to CO on Wednesday. I need to do some errands with the rest of the world shopping, except mine is not Christmas shopping. I need to find a few pairs of khakis and a few red shirts for work b/c I start the next day we get back from CO! I am also going to get a gym membership b/c I have wanted to do that for a while now. And finally, which is a little sad, I must take down our christmas tree so it does not catch on fire while we are gone on vacation! OH, and pack!

Even though I will be busy these next 24+ hours, I am so very excited to have this opportunity! Santa brought a great gift to me this year! Thank you so much Santa! :)

I had a busy day today! First, I went on an interview for Target Corporation that lasted 2 hours! Yay for a good interview! Then I went to two grocery stores, Safeway and Trader Joes. I quickly unloaded everything from my garage to our upstairs apartment, unloaded the dishwasher and started the laundry, and then Travis was home!

We caught up on each other's days and decided to hit our apartment gym for a little run (since it was too dark and cold outside). We cooked dinner, waldorf chicken salad (one of my favs) and watched a little tv. I mentioned to Travis that I had bought a bag of marchmallows to use in the future for the rest of the rice cripies we have to make rice cripy treats. He quickly wanted to know if he could have a few marshmallows and that tunred into me making Rice Crispy treats tonight. So, I did and they were amazing. I forwarned him that I was going to be baking a lot later this week and he said, well we will just make sure to take a lot to his parents' house this weekend. I said, OK!

I am planning to bake a few items this week! On my list is:
Sugar Cookies in various shapes
Pretzel rods with milk chocolate and white chocolate
Candied walnuts

I am looking forward to doing all of this baking!

Travis and I are also planning to go drive around the Folsom area and look at Christmas lights on Wednesday. I also plan to make Apple Cider. We have been drinking a lot of hot cocoa these past couple of weeks. I bought whipping cream so not only were we having hot cocoa, but we were also enjoying homemade whipped cream with out hot drink. It is a lovely treat.

We are both getting anxious to head to the Sierra mountains for Christmas with the Fords and then heading out to CO on Christmas Eve. We are very fortunate to make it out to CO for the holiday.

Love to all!

Things I Love...

I thought it would be meaningful to make a list of things that I love, enjoy and respect in my life, especially since it is Christmas time. And afterall, it is the happiest time of the year!

  1. I Love, enjoy and respect Travis!
  2. My Mom & Dad, they truly are amazing in every way
  3. My younger brothers
  4. My extended family from both sides
  5. My In-Laws
  6. Friends from CO and from CA, especially the ones who keep in touch with us on a consistent basis
  7. Our 1st Christmas Tree, and our other xmas decorations
  8. The holiday season... this time of year is so magical in every way
  9. Our first apartment
  10. My marriage
  11. Cooking & Baking
  12. Travis immensely enjoying the start of his career! He loves what he is doing and he deserves it.
  13. Receiving and sending Christmas Cards
  14. Flying home to CO for the holidays!
  15. My Lander dog (who I hear is going to be newly groomed when I see him next) and Annie and Molly dogs
  16. My husband, again, for making egg rolls for dinner tonight! ;)

So I realize this is a slightly random list, but it makes me realize how lucky I am to have what I have and to cherish my life. Some people search their whole lives for a lot of the things that I have already received out of my life. I plan to never take those for granted.

Love & Joy to all this holiday season ...and only 15 more days until Christmas! 'Tis the Season to be Jolly.... FaLaLaLaLaLaLaLa!
